Bio:

I started paddling at the age of 12 when my Canadian Uncle came across the UK to compete in the world white water racing championships.  He (Diesel Dave Coles) was an inspirational character and in the early 1980’s the paddling world was a small place. For those who knew Dave, they would agree that he was larger than life and wore his heart on his sleeve. He taught me a great deal about the world, the outdoors and in particular paddling. I guess to an extent Dave was a mentor to me and encouraged me to embark, connect and view paddling as a life-long venture, which I enjoy with the same enthusiasm now as I did when I first fell out my boat.

I joined a local club and throughout my teens I spent many memorable days on white water rivers across Scotland, which lead to me embarking on a career in the outdoors which now spans 4 decades.

I have been lucky enough to find a balance between paddling, expeditions and family life and recognise that this balance is as important now as it ever was. My expeditions have taken me to India, Nepal, British Columbia, Mexico and across the Atlantic Ocean in a small rowing boat.
