Hannes Aigner in Australia

This year I have been to Australia for the 7th time in a row to escape the winter in Germany. The start was a bit difficult, as I arrived in Penrith without my boat due to some problems with the transport of the boat in the airplane.

Luckily Joe Clarke and Pavel Eygel offered me to use their boats for a couple of sessions, until my boat arrived after 4 days. The first two weeks have been pretty hot with temperatures up to 40 degrees, so it was really exhausting to train hard during that time. Sometimes I drank 3 litres during a 60 minutes session and still got thirsty.

The second half of the time in Penrith was more easy, because it consisted of two race weekends with less training sessions. I really enjoyed doing my first races since the World Championships in Rio last year in the my new Racer ST rainbow jersey, even though my results were improvable.

Now I’m already back in Germany to prepare for the national selection races, which will be in Augsburg and Markkleeberg in 7 weeks. I am really happy to have the Peak UK Semi ST now, which keeps me warm and dry in cold and windy Markkleeberg right now. One more week of training here is left, until I’m going back to my hometown Augsburg.

Cheers, Hannes!
