Three Peaks Kayak Expedition Summer 2010
Inspired by the annual sailing come fell race. The goal of this endurance challenge is to climb the Three Peaks of Snowdon 1085m ( Wales ), Scafell Pike 978m ( England ) and Ben Nevis 1344m ( Scotland ). What makes this different to the normal Three Peaks Challenge is that we’ll kayak and bike the 900km distance between them, linking the sea to mountain sections by bike.
The trip will take three to four weeks depending upon weather / sea conditions. It is planned to attack the first peak of Snowdon in the middle of July. The ocean journey will be long and hard. Paddling around 7hrs and between 40-50kms daily. We’ll travel through and across many fast tidal streams, where the ocean flows at up to 17kms per hour. Carefully planning and navigation will be required for a safe journey.
